Code of Conduct

It is the objective of the Oisin School of Bio-Energy to guide students through the training workshops on www.heal.ie. The aim of our workshops is to achieve a professional level and standard of training in the workshops / courses we provide. The practitioner should demonstrate a high level of competence on completion of said workshops / courses. It is the responsibility of the practitioner to adhere to the Code of Ethics and Health & Safety recommendations set down by the Oisin School of Bio-Energy.

Training School

The diploma of a person who has trained with The Oisin School of Bio-Energy will be seen as invalid if a practitioner fails to comply with the Code of Ethics, Health and Safety guidelines, and training instructions set down by The Oisin School of Bio-Energy. A Practitioner is responsible for ensuring he/she has professional indemnity and public liability insurance for their particular modality or therapy.

Practitioner
A practitioner aims to give the highest quality of care to each client.
A practitioner must abide by the laws of the country in which they practice.
A practitioner must show integrity and professionalism in every aspect of their conduct. He/she is responsible and accountable for their practice, attitudes and actions including inactions and omissions.
A practitioner’s personal appearance and hygiene should project his/her commitment to professionalism.
A practitioner must respect the dignity and rights of the individual.

Client
Information regarding a client which is obtained in a professional context must be kept confidential. The only exception to this ruling is: o Where the practitioner may be required to disclose this information by law. o If the practitioner is of the opinion that the health of the client or some other person may be jeopardized if information is withheld. o When the client has given their permission to disclose the information. o If the practitioner intends to publish information regarding a client, the practitioner must ensure full anonymity. Practitioners should keep professional boundaries with clients. Professional boundaries set the limits of the therapeutic relationship including acceptable behaviour between the practitioner and the client.

The following are recommendations required in order to work as a practitioner trained by the Oisin School of Bio-Energy through our workshops (when available) at https://www.heal.ie


The practitioner has an understanding of Basic Anatomy and Physiology
The practitioner follows all necessary Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards recommended for your area of practice
The practitioner is familiar with Oisin School of Bio-Energy’s Terms and Conditions https://www.heal.ie/terms-and-conditions.html

The practitioner must retain and keep client’s notes and records secure for a minimum of 7 years after the cessation of therapy sessions.

The practitioner should familiarize him/herself with regulations regarding client’s records. (General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) https://dbei.gov.ie/en/Data-Protection/ https://www.dataprotection.ie/en/contact/how-contact-us Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

National Government Guidelines related to working with clients, children and vulnerable adults should be adhered to at all times.
These guidelines seek to assist organisations with information about best practice in child safeguarding and working with vulnerable adults.
The practitioner should familiarize him/herself with Children First Act 2015, regulations regarding Children First National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children and Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons at Risk of Abuse.

Practitioner:
The practitioner should focus on safety first for their client
The practitioner should also focus on competence, kindness, compassion, caring and protection from harm for their client
Clients have a right to receive quality care by a competent practitioner who practises in a safe environment
A Practitioner’s therapy room and premises must be of a high professional standard and in line with local and national health and safety regulations e.g. Fire & safety regulations
It is the practitioner’s responsibility to be in possession of practitioner’s indemnity insurance and public liability insurance which is current and up to date at all times.

Client:
To ensure the safety of the client before, during and after the therapy session the following recommendations apply:

The client remains fully clothed at all times.
Practitioners should keep professional boundaries with clients. Professional boundaries set the limits of the therapeutic relationship including acceptable behaviour between the practitioner and the client.
Before the practitioner commences a therapy session, ensure the client has read and signed a consultation form. The consultation form must have all relevant information about the client. The client’s notes must include the following details:
Name, current address, date of birth and contact number.
Details of past medical history, mental health issues and any current diagnosis.
Dates and details of all therapies provided.
List of current medications.
Last menstrual period where applicable (LMP)*
A clearly worded disclaimer should also be included on the consultation form.
In the event that a client is unable to make an informed decision due to physical or mental disorder, it is imperative that the practitioner obtains informed consent from the client’s next of kin or legal representative.
Alterations in client’s prescribed medications should not be made without consultation with their primary health care provider.
The client should be advised to avoid any strenuous exercise, work or heavy lifting for approximately 6-8 hours following a therapy session.
The client should be advised not to drive for at least 20 minutes following a therapy session.

Sound Therapy

Tibetan singing bowls, crystal quartz singing bowls, tuning forks or any other sound healing instrument is NEVER placed directly on a person. These instruments are NEVER held directly above a person who is lying down.  * Sound therapy should not be used for a client during pregnancy without written agreement from their primary health care provider.
