Sound healing based on vibrations
Sound healing is a therapy that uses sound vibrations to help to heal the body on all levels of the energy field; physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Sound healing as a healing modality has been in use by many cultures throughout the world for thousands of years.
Sound healing therapy can be used for working on any area of the physical body. Sound healing therapy can also be used and may prove beneficial in helping to activate and stimulate healthy cellular activity where cells or tissue have been damaged due to accident, injury, sickness, illness or trauma.
Sound healing and the emotional body
Sound healing for the emotional body is applied via the seven main chakras of the body; namely the base chakra, sacral chakra, solar plexus chakra, heart chakra, throat chakra, third eye chakra, and crown chakra.
Sound Healing therapy can be used in conjunction with many other healing modalities including bio-energy. Sound healing can also be applied for distant healing to work on a person many miles away using a sample of hair or a photograph (or both). The therapist or practitioner applying sound healing can also benefit from the frequencies and vibrations of the sound healing instruments.
How is sound therapy applied?
Sound healing therapy can be applied using different types of sound-healing instruments during a therapy session.
- Tibetan singing bowls.
- Tuning forks.
- Chinese Gongs.
- Crystal Quartz & Himalayan bowls.
- Ting-shas.
- Khosi bells.
- Different types of drums.
- The human voice for chanting and toning
- Audio frequency sound files.
- Flutes & Harps
- Harmoniums.
Gongs such as Chinese gongs and moon gongs are very often used in group healing sessions by creating a sound bath. Sometimes the participants sit around in a circle around the gong player or they may lie on mats on the ground for sessions of 45 minutes or more.
These and other instruments can be used during a sound healing therapy session to help clam and relax the client.
Vibroacoustics - Sound vibrations
Many years of research has been dedicated to sound healing using the process of vibroacoustics. Research shows that vibroacoustics can be used for pain management and many other health issues. Vibroacoustics is the use of low frequency sounds using audio files which create vibratory frequencies through a sound healing therapy table, sound-mat or sound healing chair.

Sound healing with entrainment
Sound healing works basically through the laws of entrainment and resonant frequency. Entrainment is the principal of a rhythmic or vibrating object which influences another object to vibrate or fall into the same rhythmic pattern.
A typical example would be if you pluck the ‘A’ string on an acoustic guitar if there is another guitar in the vicinity the ‘A’ string on the second guitar will begin to play the same note. This is an example of ‘entrainment’ whereby the ‘A’ string on the second guitar begins resonating to the same rate (frequency) as the ‘A’ string on the first guitar.
Our body is like an orchestra
When the body becomes ill due to physical or emotional sickness, disease or trauma the natural vibrating frequencies are affected and we feel ‘out of sorts’, ‘out of sync’ or ‘out of tune.’ The very same happens in an orchestra, when one violin is played ‘out of tune’ it can affect the other violin players in that section and if it continues can affect the harmony of the entire orchestra.
Sound healing can also use the principal of entrainment in a subtler manner to entrain brainwaves with slow vibrational frequencies to help bring about a state of deep meditation, sleep or relaxation. The main principal and purpose of sound healing is to help bring the person’s body back to an improved physical, emotional, mental and spiritual state of balance, harmony and well-being.
